The Pegatron and Foxconn recognized as major suppliers of Apple faces allegations regarding the labor conditions within their workplace. The main allegations include forced overtime hours, low wages and no provisions regarding the payment for extra time worked by the employees. The poor labor conditions at the premises of major suppliers of Apples are regarded to be against the Chinese laws developed for protection of human rights (Kahn, 2016). Also, the employees of the company have also claimed mental health issues due to the excessive work and unsatisfactory remuneration policy (Apple Supplier Code of Conduct, 2017). The company was largely criticized by the campaigners of human rights for ethical violations of its Chinese factories and also not responding properly to any complaints raised by the worker for compensation and excessive work in its Chinese units. The campaigners impose several allegations on the company including excessive long hours, improper safety conditions and fatal accidents that occurred in its number of business units in China (Turmen, 2012). The Fair Labor Association had investigated the workplace environment of its Chinese units and inferred that the company need to employ more staff and implement proper safety ensures for overcoming the poor labor conditions in its Chinese units. The company had also admitted the violation of human right law in its Chinese units after the investigation of Fair Labor Association. Also, the report from China Labor Watch (CLW) had claimed that the workers do not have proper training on handling hazardous substances in its Pegatron supplier division. The workers as such were exposed to many toxic chemicals including arsenic, mercury and chromium on a regular basis (World Report, 2012). Also, it was highlighted during auditing of the company supply chain that safety exits within its factory premises are blocked. Thus, the investigation by China Labor Watch (CLW) has imposed an allegation of 23 categories of legal and ethical labor rights at its Pegatron supplier unit in China (Foley, 2012). The following violation was put against the company from the China Labor Watch report: The compensation of workers in the year 2016 was raised to $2.00 USD but the amount after deduction remained to only $1.60 USD, which is very low in comparison to $1.85 USD in the year 2015 (Ethical Consumer, 2017). The Chinese Human Rights Law restricts businesses for asking overtime work from the inetrens. However, the interns at the business units of Apple in China were attributed to work overtime at 80 hours per month on an average basis. This overtime work was approximately around full time work employment. The wage rate per hour was very low and the workers receive very low amount as remuneration about $213 USD after reduction of all the expenses. The workers of the production line were also forced to arrive 10 minutes before the scheduled time but they did not receive compensation for the extra time. The factory workers were forced to do overtime and also were not granted any leave during the peak season (Kahn, 2016). The company in its annual report had claimed to implement all the proper policies and procedures for promoting employee welfare and safety (Annual Report, 2016). However, after analysis of the report of CLW it can be stated that the company had not taken proper measures for improving the labor conditions within its workplace (Cuthbertson, 2017). There is increased need of placing focus on providing a better workplace environment to the labor on the part of management by the company. The campaigners, in this context, have emphasized on the need of global corporations to identify and execute their responsibilities towards proving a safe workplace environment to the labor. However, there are still evident issues related to human rights violations in the multinational corporations as seen in the case of Apple (Toor, 2014). The human rights issue occurred in the Apple are due to lack of collective bargaining rights of labor and non-adoption of adequate international employment framework p rinciples (Apple Supplier Responsibility, 2012). Conclusion Thus, it can be said from the overall discussion that multinational corporations need to place important measures for ensuring employee welfare as per the Human Rights Law. The occurrence of human rights issues in Apple has demonstrated the need of implementing proper policies and procedures within the workplace for employee safety and welfare. This is important as per the UNGPs, businesses holds a prominent role in advancing human rights within their workplace for promoting the welfare of the society as a whole. (Kreis, Steven) Even wealthy children had snuck outside of their families to join. The children’s crusade seemed like it would be successful and had good intention, but had a huge lack of sense of leadership and planning. He had led him and his army into a dispute against all factors of nature. At him being so young of age, that had also caught up with him. It has been said that the children’s crusade was a set up to try and shame the king and his army to go and fight for the holy land. The Crusades were a series of religious wars, blessed by the Pope and the Catholic Church with the main goal of restoring Christian access to the holy places in and near Jerusalem. The Crusades were originally started in response to a call from the leaders of the Byzantine Empire for help to fight Muslim Turks expanding into Anatolia, these Turks had cut off access to Jerusalem. The main series of Crusades occurred between 1095 and 1291. This Holy Land was extremely important to Christians because it was where Jesus Christ had lived. The church had taken the process a step further, claiming crusading as doing a sort of deed to God for sins that had been done. This created a desire to fight for Christianity, and a motivation that kept Western Europe in tact, causing thousands of ordinary people to join the cause. The origin of the Children’s Crusade however, was from the increase of religious feeling among the peasants and laymen. Mobs of children, who belonged to religious communities and carried the belief of recovering Jerusalemm had assembled. A boy named Stephen, who was twelve years old and was from Cloyes in the Orleannais. He was born out of a poor family, which was neglected in their town. He supposedly had come upon Christ while he was sleeping and was ordered to give a letter to the king and also preach the crusade. The king had turned him down, but Stephen began to go across town and he preached. His letter had told his followers that crossing obstacles like the sea would be easy for them: it said that the waterways would part and let them cross through. According to the church, this crusade wasn’t really a crusade because they weren’t blessed by a pope. The church believed they couldn’t bless if a crusade was bound to fail, but they thought that by sending these kids would put shame on the popes and make them actually put together a crusade and capture Jerusalem. The amount of inspiration Stephen had towards his religion was immeasurable. He had gone and preached promoting the crusade against Muslims of the east of Spain and had been turned down by nearly everyone who he had come across. After he had received the letter from Jesus he arrived at the entrance of Abbey of Saint-Dennis and had announced that he would lead an â€Å"army† of children to rescue the holy land. In the summer of 1212 three armies of children, each more than thirty thousand strong, setout from France and Germany, to walk to Jerusalem and rescue the Holy Sepulchre from the armies of Muslims. The leaders were children, boys only twelve or thirteen years old; they preached in churches, at shrines, and on highways. Now, this was an act that took major amounts of courage but children cannot lead other children and Stephen being only twelve years old, he wasn’t ready to lead either. When it comes to leadership, Stephen lacked highly in it as a whole. Mostly all of his army had set on foot and Stephen had designed a cart for himself. At his sides were several boys on horseback who were from richer families and could afford these things. It wasn’t fair to the other 30,000 kids that had to suffer on foot. Money distribution had become a huge issue. There was no money to buy food or water or any means of transportation anywhere. Stephen had also made his army believe that the sea would spread for them and they would be able to cross, none of this happened. A few days later, two merchants, Hugh the Iron and William the Pig, confronted Stephen with a deal. They offered to provide seven ships, to the mass of children, free of charge. All of the boys and girls boarded their ships and set out to Palestine. It took about 18 years until the story of the tragedy had been talked about The fact that Stephen was only twelve years old and had come from a poor peasant family really had an effect on his sense of power. It seemed as though people didn’t respect him. On top of that he didn’t know how to read nor write, he was in a way looked at as a fool even at such a young age. It was wrong for the king to even let him step foot out on his own. The morals of the king were that he would shame his own army into fighting the crusades, but this didn’t work and the king had sacrificed 30,000 other children’s lives. When there is a mass population of kids, disease also comes into play. As the journey went on, many kids became diseased and those diseases had carried to both the kids and the towns that they had traveled through. Before reaching the sea, over half of the army had either died from disease, starvation or heat exhaustion. This was considered a very painful journey, some kids had wandered off to seek food or just to go home. Since Stephen didn’t know how to read, for days even weeks the children wouldn’t hear from anyone and they had come across towns out of luck. Once reaching the city of Marseilles, they were kindly greeted and were given rooms to sleep in. The student is taught that they need to learn so that they know more and to survive in today's society because most everyone today needs a good education. The student is taught in ways they will learn. They should also have a curriculum to follow to become the individual they were born to be; to make up their own minds and not to be persuaded to have the same ideas and thoughts as someone else. A student is one who learns. But how does the student learn? A student is a person who has their own mind their own thoughts they are an individual. A student explores their mind finding out what they want in life. They do so by experiencing things like the Pragmatist and Progressivist say. The student is also sometime influenced by a leader; they follow their parent's morals and standards when they are young and then some follow their friend's attitudes, feelings, or even actions as discussed by Rousseau in Emile. The Baader-Meinhof or the Red Army Faction (RAF) was a prominent militant outfit of the ‘German Autumn. ’ A terror era that lasted for nearly three decades was marked by the rise and fall of several terrorist organizations. One of the most dreaded of these was the Baader-Meinhof Gang. The Organization The Baader-Meinhof Gang was formed out of the New Left and Extra Parliamentary Opposition student movements that had huge support from the German students in the 1950s and the 1960s, especially against the U. S. war in Vietnam (Tucker 95). With the passage of time, further student demonstrations took place and on June 2, a university student called Benno Ohnesorg was shot dead by the police, adding fuel to the fire burning in the students’ hearts (Tucker 96). Andreas and his girlfriend, Ensslin, were arrested for the act, but were later released in 1969 (Tucker 96). In the period 1970-1977, the gang targeted a number of government top-ranked officials for assassination. They were successful in this goal when they assassinated prominent individuals like Jurgen Ponto, Prosecutor Buback and Hanns-Martin Schelyer (Fulbrook 229). Schleyer’s body was dumped inside the boot of a car after a hijack attempt by the gang was stopped by Federal Border Police in Mogadishu (Fulbrook 229). The hijack had been planned to force the government to release the gang’s top leaders Baader, Raspin and Ensslin. For example in the text The Rugmaker of Mazar-E-Sharif a detainee of a main camp in South Australia demonstrated emotional and physical conflict. Many people are exposed to such grief and struggle in relation to the kind of culture they came from. This is an issure which people cannot control. With the 5 different countries all under the same roof of the detention centre in Woomera, thoughts of inequality and favouristim lead to mistrust thrown between everyone. When Najaf is working in the mess serving food, he witnesses an Iranian giving more food to another Iranian, later a Chechen complains leaving the Afghans to decide whos side theyre on. If they keep us here long enough, there will probably be a war. Many of the detainees in the detention centre make jokes about the other people from different countries. This leads arguments to turn into tiny wars. After the 9/11 incident which took place on September 11th 2001, racial profiling became an issure all across the U. S. Critics had thought that all arab-looking people had been suspects of this event and were forced to be searched. This grabbed the attention from media and law enforcement agencies. From such racial criticism put on people who have no idea whats happening leads them feeling singled out and humiliated. People that were randomly chosen for security checks all happened to be either wearing a type of religious head clothing or have a dark skin complexion. It isnt the fact that everyone is different although were all human, there will always be people who will judge people based on what country they come from or how they look. People are forced against verbal and an emotional dispute which they cant change or control, but instead must endure. Conflict can be forced on an individual. Najaf had been a witness to violence and trauma, he endured the taliban bombings of his hometown in Afghanistan. Najaf witnessed the continuous fights between the mujahedins and the communists. Like almost every Afghan, I have witnessed a number of explosions in my life, always unwillingly. Najaf was brought up in a nature of misery and injustice. he had no input to change the outcome of war, he had to live and tolerate the physical and emotional struggle. A documentary Children in Conflictconveys similar consequences and responses to living in a violent envrionment. These kids had been brought up in a devistating country. Children in conflict gives an insight of the kids who are affected by this situation and shows the type of conflict they experience. These kids experience a mix of emotional and physical conflict. One of the Afghan children interviewd says War has affected us in a way which has made our lives horrible and we have lost our parents. As these kids are at such a young age, with no parents, they take on adult responsibilities for themselves. This conflict is unavoidavle as people cannot help the fact they were brought up in a country where there is little food but great violence. In situations of dispute, people will find that sometimes conflict has to be engaged with in order for it to be resolved. As Najaf had found work in a factory, his boss accused Najaf of being a lazy worker and not making productive time. In response to what his boss said, Najaf had been frustrated. I explained to him, angrily, that my pride cannot bear being thought lazy I would rather starve on the street than have a man standing over me and judging me unfairly. Instead of Najaf just letting the situation pass, he argued back which resulted with an apology from his boss therefore resolving the situation. In 2011, an Australian student, 15 years of age named Casey Heynes spent the last 3 years of his life since 2011 being bullied by other kids at his school in Western Sydney. A 12 year old school boy named Ritchard Gale bullied Casey by calling him names such as fatty, telling him to go lose weight and then continuously punching casey and slapping the back of his head. This went on for number of days until Casey decided to show some self defence. Casey stood up to the bully, Ritchard who had been hitting him and took grab of him and threw him to the ground. Thats why I picked him up and dropped him cause I was scared, I just wanted to defuse the situation. From engaging with verbal, physical and emotional conflict Caseys response was able to resolve the issue. When Casey retaliated on the bully nobody had touched or teased him ever since. In conclusion, it is evident that conflict is an unavoidable part of being human.
